what is capoeira?

Capoeira was born in Brazil, created by enslaved Africans who disguised their fight for freedom inside music and dance. Today, capoeira is a vibrant mix of movement, rhythm, and playful challenge. What makes this martial art unique is the way every movement flows into the next, creating a continuous rhythm that resembles a dance. Guided by the music of capoeira, it weaves together powerful kicks, dodges, and sweeps—building strength, balance, and creativity with every motion. You don’t need to be a fighter, a dancer, or an acrobat to start. Capoeira is for anyone ready to move differently, build confidence, and discover something new.

more than a class

a circle.

True essence of Capoeira lives in the roda — the circle — where the energy grows with each voice, each movement.People joining the roda will be seen playing instruments, singing, clapping, performing a jogo (Capoeira movements in the centre of the roda). Everyone belongs. Here, we build more than skills. We build connection: through movement, through music, through the unspoken language of the body.

capoeira meets you where you are

capoeira meets you where you are

and pushes you forward.

  • Capoeira teaches you how to move — and how to stay standing when life tries to knock you down.

  • It’s strength, but it’s also awareness.

  • It’s agility, but it’s also patience.

  • It’s community, but it’s also personal mastery.

  • You’ll build fitness, flexibility, and reflexes, yes — but also rhythm, creativity, and connection.

  • And it’s open to all. No matter your starting point, capoeira meets you where you are and carries you forward.

a lifetime on the path

about your teacher.

In capoeira, practitioners often receive a nickname as a sign of respect and recognition for their dedication.Your teacher, Galo de Briga ("Fighting Rooster"), brings decades of experience in capoeira, not only from training but from living its traditions, music, and philosophy.
